Can Big Food Make Good on Promises of Regenerative Agriculture?
Next Monday, food companies and agribusiness giants will descend on New York City for the start of Climate Week, and if one word could describe the overarching theme for 2026, it’s “regenerative.”
At the Regen House, Danone, Mars, and Nestlé will all host panels on regenerative agriculture. Sponsors of the event include some of the biggest companies across food and farm supply chains: international commodity grain dealer ADM, soda and snack giant PepsiCo, and the world’s biggest retailer, Walmart.
JBS, the world’s largest meat company, has a public goal to “support farmers with their adoption of regenerative practices,” while Keurig Dr. Pepper says the company has “supported regenerative agriculture and conservation” on close to 200,000 acres since 2022.
The growing use of the term over the last few years—at important convenings set up to address the planet’s biggest environmental issues and far beyond—appears to be making an impact on public perception.
