IN THE HEART OF THE AMAZON RAINFOREST IN PERU, FONDAZIONE LAVAZZA IS COMMITTED TO THE REFORESTATION THE AREA THANKS TO A PROJECT IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE MINISTRY OF ENVIRONMENT IN PERU, THE LOCAL INDIGENOUS TRIBES AND CESVI.

The project has two main objectives: to safeguard the already-existing rainforest with the direct aid of the indigenous communities, making them the “guardians of the forest”, and to plant new trees in more run-down areas. The project also holds a strong social value: it promotes the manufacturing and marketing of local natural products – such as the Brazilian nut – and the planting of fruit trees, which represent both a source of food for the communities themselves and a chance for revenues.
