Webinar – Entrepreneurship for healthy food and regenerative agriculture

11/12/2021 - 11/21/2021

Ruchi Jain started Taru Naturals 5 years ago. Her company now supports and trains over 10,000 tribal and small-scale farmers across India…

Moved by her values, Ruchi Jain started her organic food business, Taru Naturals, in 2016 by selling jaggery (palm sugar). The company now manufactures and sells a variety of products like spices, nuts, seeds, oils, wheat flour, sourdough flour, black rice, etc. It buys its raw material from 10.000 small-scale farmers. It uses market intelligence to set up supply chains for market-ready fair-trade products. The products are manufactured in the company’s small plant in Mumbai with clean tech processing units. Taru Naturals encourages farmers to develop climate resilient agriculture, providing organic farming training, and also works on agroforestry and ecosystem restoration, encouraging farmers to grow fruit trees. “My vision is to enable small-scale farmers to graduate to small business entrepreneurs,” says Ruchi Jain. Taru Naturals was among the 50 small and medium enterprises (SMEs) worldwide which received the ‘Best Small Businesses’ award in the “Good Food for All” competition held in conjunction with the 2021 UN Food Systems Summit.
