Webinar – Workshop: Soil – Really Important Tiny Lives

An introductory lesson in soil ecology- learn all about the microscopic creatures that help maintain a healthy soil ecosystem!

Soil is capable of supporting plant life and is vital to life on earth, yet we understand very little about its complexities. Dig deeper with this introductory soil science workshop where we’ll look at the soil ecosystem and the microbiology that helps us grow nutritious food.

Instructor Bio: As the Site Manager and Community Education Coordinator at the Compost Education centre, Kayla Siefried practices organic gardening and permaculture in the Compost Education Centre’s gardens and in her own urban backyard. She’s gathered knowledge from a variety of wise teachers after living and working on numerous permaculture inspired food growing farms in Canada, Australia, Ecuador, Cambodia. She’s completed various permaculture and gardening trainings, after she completed her formal education at the University of Waterloo with a Bachelor of Environmental Studies. Kayla has also spent time facilitating a wide variety of learning opportunities for learners of all ages, from preschoolers all the way up to adults. She thrives on sharing her knowledge with others, and when she’s not teaching or playing in the garden, she’s likely cooking and preserving up a storm in the kitchen, dancing, crafting, hiking or camping!
