Daily Agendas
9h30 - 10h30: RI Team Meeting (Breakfast Room): Everybody - Internal overview/strategy/communications meeting
10h30: Meet at the hostel with the larger group of us to walk to Place de la République and Nation -- Please invite everybody to join us to meet to march to the location of the human chain for climate of peace demonstration. It is a 40 minute walk according to Google maps. If people would prefer, we could also take the metro (25 minutes).
11h30 - 13h00: A human chain for a climate of peace
18h00: Place To Brief: Live broadcast (Place to B)
20h00: Global Climate March After Party (Place to B)
21h30: Using improv theatre to tell a story differently! (Place to B)
The Human Chain
- At 11.30, human chain will start forming on the route of the march and people in the chain will carry the banners and visuals developed for the march initially
- the call to action is "state of climate emergency: for a climate of peace"
- it's not officially permitted but in theory, it does not need to: it's on the side walks only, not on the roas, and not a crowd. However, because of the state of emergency, we kept the police informed: they don't support it but they never said "no way" which we interpret to mean "it's ok as long as...". Folks in the gvt have been pushing the police to be flexible and allow some form of mobilization. Also, it's not yet prohibited to hold hands that we know of 🙂 However, it could easily fall under the category of civil disobedience in this weird context we're in so if you come, please come mindful that we don't know exactly what the risks involved are.
- To form this humain chain, around 3-4000 people are needed. Not that many so don't promote the event too much - it would also piss of the government and police if we started calling 1000s and 1000s of people in.
- To avoid any issues with those groups calling to march place de la république, the human chain will start at oberkampf.
- Each station along the way is the start of a new chapter. Each chapter will have the one big banner prepared for the march + the visuals prepared for the march. People can bring along tshirts, hand held stuff but no banners.
- Which means that depending on the chapter you want to call your groups to, you give them a different meeting place.
- there is a briefing for helpers/security at 10.30 on sunday morning
- the human chain will start shaping up around 11.30 and be ready by 12.30
- It will be over by 1 PM: the humain chain will create a collective heartbeat
- There's a midway groups are using: joining in but not officially calling to it
- Alternatiba and ATTAC are amongs those leading on organizing.
- The different chapters will be organised as follows:
- we know who is responsible will be organised from metro voltaire
- jobs and social justice will be organised from metro rue des boulets
- frontline communities will be organised from saint ambroise
- nature and climate change will be organised from Oberkampf
- we are the solutions will be organised from metro charonne
- if you join, please arrive to Boulevard Voltaire through other metro stations: Faidherbe Chaligny (close to rue des boulets and charonne), Père Lachaise or ledru rollin (close to voltaire), Parmentier (close to oberkampf and saint ambroise)
