Helena Norberg-Hodge is a pioneer of the new economy movement and recipient of the Alternative Nobel prize, the Arthur Morgan Award and the Goi Peace Prize for contributing to “the revitalization of cultural and biological diversity, and the strengthening of local communities and economies worldwide.” She is author of the inspirational classic Ancient Futures, and Local is Our Future (2019). She is co-author of Bringing the Food Economy Home and From the Ground Up, and producer of the award-winning documentary The Economics of Happiness. Tim Marshall has been a leader in organic agriculture and certification in Australia for 45 years and a significant contributor to organic standards and certification in worldwide forums. Tim has worked with wine grapes, apples, mangoes, avocados, wool, beef, and nuts. He has worked with large cooperatives consisting of thousands of small-scale coffee, tea, cocoa, coconut, and spice producers.

Elizabeth Mpofu is an organic farmer and activist based at Shashe in Masvingo, Zimbabwe. She has dedicated her life to work tirelessly for the betterment of smallholder farmers and the rights of women in general. Elizabeth has held various leadership positions since the 1990’s. Currently, she is a member of the International Coordination Committee (ICC) and the General Coordinator of La Via Campesina, an international peasants’ movement with a membership of over 200 million farmers from about 164 local and national organizations in 73 countries from Africa, Asia, Europe and the Americas. She is a founder member of two important small farmer organizations, one at national level and the other at regional. She was designated as the UN FAO Special ambassador for the International Year of Pulses 2016. At the national level, she helped establish the Zimbabwe Smallholder Organic Farmers Forum (ZIMSOFF), which promotes organic farming. At regional, she founded with others the Eastern Southern Smallholder Farmers’ Forum (ESAFF) which promotes sustainable farming practices. Currently, she serves as an advisor to the newly elected ZIMSOFF Board and she is still the Chairperson of the Association of Zimbabwe Traditional and Environmental Conservationists (AZTREC) Board and is a Steering Committee member of the Alliance for Food Sovereign Africa (AFSA). She presided as Chairperson of ESAFF from 2004 to 2011, later became vice-Chairperson (2012-2013) and is now a Board member. Elizabeth Mpofu is also a founding member of African Women's Collaborative for Healthy Food Systems which was launched in 2017 to address the continuing marginalization of peasant and indigenous women in Africa.
Kiyimba Mugagga. I am the National Coordinator for SCOPE Uganda. We have grown SCOPE from a small organisation that started in 2015 and now it has become a fully functioning network of 22 organisations spread in all major regions across Uganda. I also founded Treasure Foundation, an organisation that hosts a demonstration center with a community seed bank (Treasure seed center) plus a micro finance (Treasure Financial Services): This micro finance enables small holder farmers to access credit so that they improve their income. I also wrote a book entitled:- the key to prosperity which helps young people to have entrepreneurship knowledge and improve their incomes without depleting the environment. Gertrude Pswarayi-Jabson is the Country Coordinator for the Participatory Ecological Land Use Management (PELUM) Zimbabwe. For the past 15 years, she has been working with Civil Society Organisations to raise consciousness on agroecology, food systems, gender, information and communication technologies and livelihoods on practical and political intervention level. She holds a MSc. degree in Development Studies and a BSc. Degree in Journalism and Media Studies. Gertrude is a social entrepreneur, an award winning journalist and an Earth Jurisprudence graduate. She has extensive experience on diverse issues working with marginalized groups in Southern Africa.
Dr. Plaxedes T. Chitiyo is a lecturer and Associate Director for Environment and Sustainability Program in the Department of Geography, Environment, and Sustainability at University of North Carolina at Greensboro North Carolina USA. She specializes in sustainable agriculture in developed and developing regions, exploring how it can meet our current societal needs as well as creating systems that sustain future generations. Her previous work includes collaborative work with urban community gardens and farms as well as non-profit organizations to address food insecurity and food apartheid issues in Pittsburgh inner city neighborhoods. She was part of the steering committee involved in developing the Food Action Plan for Pittsburgh and Greater Pittsburgh area, an initiative led by the Pittsburgh Food Policy Council. Her research interests include environmental policy, food justice, environmental justice, urban agriculture, sustainability, and green space development.
Mamadou Fall. With a Master's degree in natural resource management and an engineering degree in planning and rural economy, Mamadou Fall is a specialist in sustainable development and natural resource governance. He has participated in and coordinated various regional programs and action research projects on the issues of natural resource governance, sustainable agriculture, rural economy, climate change and green economy. He has almost 2 decades of experience in rural development, 10 of which were with the NGO IED Africa where he worked on the promotion of agroecology and family farming. He is now Executive Director of IED Afrique, an NGO that works on sustainable development and citizenship issues in Africa, focusing on methodological and participatory innovations".

Nina Duarte. Ingeniera forestal M.Sc. en agroforesteria tropical. Neocampesina y amante de las plantas, practica la agricultura orgánica hace más de 10 años en la Biorregión del Chocó Andino. Hace algunos años conduce una importante investigación sobre plantas alimenticias no convencionales (PANC) en la Reserva Intillacta, donde produce y consume estas plantas diariamente. Busca a través de la investigación y cultivo de las PANC aportar a la soberanía alimentaria del territorio y fortalecer la integración de los seres humanos con las plantas y los bosques. Nina es parte de la Red de Guardianes de Semillas de Ecuador, la Red de Bosques Escuelas del Chocó Andino, y la Comunidad Slow Food del Alimento Sostenible.
Thais Corral is a social innovator, ecologist and women’s leader. She is the Founder of Sinal do Vale Institute, a Brazilian integral organization, located near Rio de Janeiro, in the Mata Atlantica. Sinal do Vale serves as a regeneration campus for individuals, ecosystems and communities. It is deeply engaged in reforestation, food security and sustainability education.
Adelita San Vicente Tello. Actual Directora General del Sector Primario y de Recursos Naturales de Semarnat. Primer representante de la Colectividad demandante. Con una larga trayectoria de lucha ambientalista, hasta antes de asumir su actual puesto en el gobierno federal, San Vicente Tello fue directora de la Fundación “Semillas de vida” y promotora de la campaña “Sin maíz no hay país”, con la que un grupo de académicos y activistas logró una medida cautelar para suspender la siembra de cultivos transgénicos en México mientras se resuelve una demanda interpuesta para buscar la prohibición definitiva.
Leydy Pech, apicultora indígena maya, encabezó una coalición que detuvo la siembra de soja modificada genéticamente por Monsanto en siete estados del país. Por su defensa por el medio ambiente y la autonomía de los pueblos originarios y la miel ganó el “Nobel” del medio ambiente: 2020 Goldman Prize Recipient North America. Aprendió a cuidar la tierra como un legado ancestral y su postura de defensa a la autonomía de los pueblos originarios ha logrado que se frenen proyectos que contaminan a la tierra y matan a las abejas.
Homero Blas Bustamante. Agricultor agroecológico con certificación orgánica y produce entre otros productos: café, plátano, guanábana, jengibre, cúrcuma, cardamomo y miel de abeja. Miembro del Consejo Nacional de Producción Orgánica de la Secretaría de Agricultura. Presidente de la Asociación de Egresados de Chapingo en Oaxaca, una asociación que agrupa a agrónomos egresados de la Universidad Autónoma Chapingo, este cargo es de mayo 2019 a mayo 2022. Presidente de la Sociedad Mexicana de Producción Orgánica - SOMEXPRO, es una Asociación Civil que vela por los intereses del sector productor, comercial y agroindustrial en México. Director del Organismo de Certificación de Productos Orgánicos MAYABÍO. Auditor en Scientific Certification Systems para el Programa Nacional Orgánico del USDA. Presidente Ejecutivo del Consejo Agroalimentario del Estado de Oaxaca.
Patricio Eleisegui (Argentina) se formó en Ciencias de la Comunicación en la Universidad de Buenos Aires (UBA). Desempeña su labor periodística en medios de su país como Revista Sudestada e iProfesional, entre otros. Produjo y participó en documentales que abordan problemáticas socioambientales para Francia, Italia, México y Argentina. Publicó los libros de investigación periodística AgroTóxico (2019), Envenenados (2013, reeditado en 2017) y Fruto de la Desgracia (2014), sobre el drama sanitario derivado del uso de agrotóxicos y la siembra de semillas transgénicas en Argentina. También, dos libros de relatos y una novela que resultó dos veces finalista del Premio Clarín-Alfaguara. Textos de su autoría han sido incluidos en diversas antologías de ficción editadas en Sudamérica.
Carlos Briganti. Nací en una hectárea y cuarto en Montevideo viendo a mi padres y abuelos haciendo quinta. Tuve mi primera huerta cuando iba a la escuela mi papá me dió un gallinero abandonado para plantar verduras así fui creciendo hasta mi adolescencia que empeze a trabajar seriamente el campo. Hice feria en la década del 70 con mis propias verduras y transformé ese campo en un jardín de verduras y una granja muy grande. Después fui a la Argentina y me dediqué a la docencia y armé la huerta en el Barrio de Chacarita, en un techo de 60 mts cuadrados y después fundé la escuela de agroecología urbana en Constitución, única en la Argentina.
Ileana Vanessa Ramírez Ríos
Ingeniero Agroindustrial, dedicada a la producción, transformación y comercialización de alimentos orgánicos y artesanales desde Vimpervinca Ecotienda. Asesora a pequeños productores y unidades productivas en la conversión de alimentos convencionales a orgánicos, resaltando con claridad su integridad para ser reconocida por el consumidor. Promueve la certificación orgánica participativa a nivel local, regional, nacional e internacional, con la oportunidad a partir de ello también de conocer las experiencias de países latinoamericanos. Donde ha conocido sus esfuerzos y alcances de los pequeños productores, su organización y capacidad de crear redes con el objetivo de fortalecer este sector desde las experiencias más pequeñas hasta compañeros que han alcanzado reconocimientos a nivel nacional e internacional.
Isidora Molina, médico veterinario, es la fundadora de Efecto Manada, un emprendimiento orientado al manejo holístico de la tierra, el que a través de técnicas de pastoreo de animales herbívoros restablece la estructura saludable del suelo y mejora la productividad del terreno. Isidora, ha logrado impulsar una metodología poco conocida en Chile, una forma diferente de conectar la naturaleza, la economía y las personas.
Fernanda Pia es la Directora del CGR, Centro para la Ganadería Regenerativa, Hub del Instituto Savory para Costa Rica. Fernanda ha trabajado en comunicaciones y agroecología durante los últimos 10 años. En el 2017 estudió una maestría en liderazgo y sostenibilidad en Suecia y desde el 2020 estudia y practica el Manejo Holístico, marco de gestión desarrollado por Allan Savory.
Roberto Ugás es agrónomo peruano, profesor de horticultura y de agroecología en la Universidad Nacional Agraria La Molina, Perú, con énfasis en agrobiodiversidad y sistemas alimentarios. Forma parte del Programa Colaborativo de Investigación en Cultivos (CCRP) de la Fundación McKnight en los países andinos.
