Webinar – Regenerating Ourselves: Mental and Physical Health in Agriculture

February 6

Farming is often romanticized, and while it has an innate beauty, the job is not for the faint of heart. The long hours, manual labour, and an inherent reliance on factors outside farmers’ control, like weather and market conditions, can lead to mental and physical health challenges. When compared to the general population, farmers are experiencing much higher rates of stress, anxiety, and depression that have been more recently amplified by the climate crisis, the pandemic, and economic uncertainty.

Join us on February 6th to explore how agriculture impacts farmers’ health and how we, as consumers, can better understand the root causes and the solutions that can address these concerns. Farmer well-being is critical to developing a regenerative food system in Canada.

During this webinar, we will hear different perspectives about mental and physical health in the agriculture industry from farmers Aaron and Carly Godard of Snowy Mountain Farm in BC, and researcher Zsofia Mendly-Zambo from York University.

There will be time for questions at the end of the webinar. The webinar will run for 90 minutes and will be facilitated by Angel Beyde, of the EFAO. The event will be held in English with real-time interpretation in French. A webinar recording will be available in both languages after the event.
