Webinar – Regenerative Farming: The new hope for farmers!

11/16/2020

Covering the origins of the Central Victorian Regenerative Farmers group and the rationale for multi species cover cropping, why Regenerative farmers are adopting this approach enthusiastically and what trials and demonstrations of cover cropping by farmers have shown so far.

Hosted by Ross Davey, facilitator of the Central Victorian Regenerative Farmers group(CVRF), a community of farmers who are sharing their experiences and learning in their journey of applying regenerative farming approaches to their properties and management. The CVRF group is sponsored and supported by the North Central Catchment Management Authority through National Landcare funding. Ross has a farm between Clunes and Maryborough and is one of 13 farms in the group conducting on-farm demonstration trials of multi species cover cropping and application of biological amendments to improve soil health, soil microbial biodiversity and improved pasture resilience.

With special guest Jade Killoran, Jade studied a Bachelor of Agricultural Science at Latrobe University. She conducted Honours year research on Victorian cover cropping in 2013, and after graduating, was employed by Southern Farming Systems until 2016 as a research and extension officer, before moving to AGF Seeds as their cover crop lead. Last year, Jade started “Healthy Farming Systems” and became an independent cover crop consultant, employed by CMA and Landcare groups.
